Arborea is a startup working to accelerate the global transition to sustainable food by producing healthy food ingredients through advanced carbon-positive organic cultivation systems.

My time at Arborea was spent designing and prototyping the pilot for a modular microalgae growing unit for a sustainable agriculture technologies startup.

As product designer I tested and optimised the prototype to increase algal yield, and reduced manufacturing costs. The prototype was to inform the design of a 30-acre farm. Simple assembly, operation, and maintenance was imperative to ensure the scalability of the technology.
I designed and manufactured a 20 metre pilot with a team of three, as a proof of concept of Arborea’s technology. The design is in the latter stages of testing in Imperial College’s Innovation Hub.
