SYNAESTHESIA SIMULATOR

This installation is a recreation of sound-to-vision synaesthesia. A sensory experience has been built around a soundbite of a synaesthete describing their experience, accompanied by music and visuals

Synaesthesia is a condition which causes a sensory experience from one sense by stimulation of another sense; for example, seeing sound or tasting visuals.

The most accurate way to communicate a subjective experience, such as sensory perception, is to recreate it as true to the description as possible.

The installation consists of an area for the viewer to stand, surrounded by multiple layers of netting to capture projected animations. Due to the netting and parallax, the visuals appear to be three dimensional and all encompassing from the perspective of the viewer.
